Defense gear is an essential part of everyday carry. Every day there is always the potential to face violence. So it is imperative to have EDC defense gear.
In a previous post, we talked about the different layers of self-defense gear. Those layers are best understood by using the acronym P.A.C.E. which stands for primary, alternate, contingency and emergency. When it comes to self-defense it is not lawful to always use a handgun.
In order to legally defend yourself, you will need to match your attackers level of escalation. For example, if you are in a fist fight with an attacker you wouldn’t again be able to use your handgun. In this post, I will be sharing my recommendations on EDC Defense Gear that can be used to match each level of escalation.
EDC Defense Gear Must Haves
The tactical pen is a really great tool to carry for EDC defense gear. The reason being is because they are generally a non-lethal weapon that you can use to defend yourself. It wouldn’t be ideal for extremely violent situations but will give you the opportunity to break free from an attacker or give you the opportunity to grab another tool from your EDC.
This tool won’t necessarily knock someone out but sure as shit get your attacker’s attention. Especially if you use the UZI Tactical Defender as it is made of aircraft grade aluminum which is extremely strong. This pen also comes with a glass breaker which is great for emergencies but is also helping when defending yourself.
I normally carry the UZI Tactical Defender in my shirt pocket so that I can quickly grab it in the case that I need it. You could also clip it to your pants pocket.
