If you thought the last winter was bad, get ready… because winter 2015 could be even worse.
WeatherBELL Analytics’ chief meteorologist Joe Bastardi predicts a “nasty winter” is in store for the United States. In fact, he says it has the potential to be even worse than last winter, particularly for Tennessee, the Carolinas, and up toward New York.
Why should you pay attention to Joe’s prediction?
1.) Joe’s group predicted the hard winter of 2014. In November of 2013, they said the winter would have an “economic impact” on the U.S. Their forecast turned out to be correct.
2.) Joe’s group then forecasted a cool “Garden of Eden” summer, which has also turned out to be true in much of the U.S. (I can verify that Denver has had a cooler, wetter summer than normal.)
What can you do to get ready?
Make sure you’ve got quality winter clothing for every member of your family: coats, gloves, hats, boots.
Make sure you’ve got a good snow shovel or two. Consider putting a collapsible snow shovel in your car so you can dig yourself out if you get stuck somewhere.
Get an emergency weather radio to alert you of incoming storms.
Other items to consider: a space heater, sleeping bags, warm blankets, hand warmers, candles, and lighters.
